I was delighted to work with Oliver Prout Photography to produce some interesting photos using some of my costumes – Edwardian, 1950s, Medieval

The Kooks

The Kooks dressed up in 18th cent costumes for a music video filmed in Nonsuch Place, Sutton – they made a great sound, plus they had 5 ladies to accompany them on violins and cellos. A great day!

“Don Giovanni”

The Merry Opera Company staged another tour, this time Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”.  The challenge was to design and supply 1950s costumes – very colourful and entertaining!

I provided lots of Victorian costumes for carol singers to entertain shoppers in three shopping centres – a last minute booking but it all worked out right in the end!!!

“Pirates of Penzance”

The Merry Opera Company staged a tour of “Pirates of Penzance” - lots of fun
especially designing and making the pirates costumes!

I costumed a film called “Savage” about human zoos and set in a museum in the Edwardian period.

Marie Antoinette- party!

Some lovely customers dressed up in 18th cent costumes for a special Marie Antoinette-themed party!  Looks great fun!!

"William Wordsworth ”

William Wordsworth (aka Simon Waterfield) appeared in his own show, telling his audience about the delights of living in the Lake District!

Christmas Visitations

This film was about the early life of Jacob Marley (A Christmas Carol) and it was filmed at the Dickens Centre in Chatham.  Costumes by Larger Than Life Stagewear, directed by Paul Howard and a talented cast and crew combined to make a delightful (but sad) film of Victorian life with the background of Dickens' book very evident.

“Top Hat”

A lively production by the talented GEOIDS Musical Theatre, at the Bridewell Theatre, London. A costuming challenge as it required 18 evening dress white tie an tails outfits for both men and women.  Dance director Lemington Ridley excelled in this production.  Larger Than Life Stagewear was delighted to be involved!!

“Nell Gwynn”

Jessica Swales' new play about Nell and how she became the country's most celebrated actress and stole the heart of Charles II –  at a delightful venue The Stables Theatre, Hastings.  Tim Wormley-Healing and his cast and crew created a great set and Larger Than Life Stagewear's costumes proved their worth!

“Marrying Mum and Dad”

Cbeebies filmed a programme for this series at a beautiful country house in

Huntingdon and it involved costuming 56 people in 17th cent costumes!!  No mean feat! Two lovely ladies got married with their guests as witnesses.  BBC involvement was fantastic – Larger Than Life Stagewear had a great time!!

A short film showing Handel's composition genius and his skill at the keyboard

in a lovely period setting. Close up filming showed off the costumes well!!!

Venice Carnivale 2018

Four lovely ladies hired some dresses and wigs to take part in the Carnivale – by all accounts they had a great time!!

It was a great opportunity to hire out the pink dress (recently made!)

A Pastoral Messiah

In November 2012, Larger Than Life Stagewear is once again costuming a production of “A Pastoral Messiah” which will be held at St. Anne’s Church, Kew Green on 4th and 24th November 2012.  St. Anne’s is a beautiful church which will be a most suitable venue for performances of  Handel’s Messiah, set against the background of a Victorian story of village people.  See Links page for Unexpected Opera website.

Bath Festival

A number of customers have been to the annual Bath Festival where everyone parades in Regency costumes.  Don’t they look just as if they have stepped out of a Jane Austen novel!

(and at Beckenham Theatre!!)

Larger Than Life Stagewear sent Regency costumes to Bermuda for a production of
Tom Stoppard’ brilliant play “Arcadia”  as well as for the Beckenham Theatre’s production of “Arcadia” which was on at the same time.  That’s the furthest the costumes have travelled – and they came back intact!

European Festival Baroque Orchestra

– Nov 2011

This orchestra travelled to Jersey for a Baroque concert which was all the more effective for the costumes they were wearing.  It took some organising to get all the costumes there but don’t they look good – let’s hope they decide to do it again, this time in Britain!
